Take Off!

Oh Damascus, the summer is back again.
And my wings are, too.
My yearning to you cries out: "Take off!"
And the wind calls upon me.
The voices of my friends,
Her eyes,
And the promise of a possible tomorrow...
Everything I love
Has stolen sleep from my eyes
Then went to sleep.

From a song by Fairouz to the lyrics of Said Akel.

Yaa Ayman! I'm glad to see that you are back blogging! I always look forward to learn more about arguably the most fascinating city in the world esp. about its history, architecture, society etc. Keep up the good work! Inshallah I'm sure you will pass the exams with flying colours!

Beautiful light, Ayman. Let me guess: Is it somewhere close to Azem Palace?

wow - love this post. I really like the photo. The way it's dark in the foreground really contrasts with the white wall and wonderful looking door!

And the words are great too!

Thanks Faraz! It's been a long time! I will write you soon inshallah.

Sasa and Gottfried, I forgot where I took this picture.. I don't know where actually! I was lost in the maze of alleyways close to Midhat Pasha and this nice scene caught my eyes. I remember there was a small mosque called Jame' Al-Taftafiyeh nearby.

Thanks everybody else for your comments.
