Ottoman Mosque

Before the Friday prayers at the entrance of Al-Darwishiyeh Mosque. The Mosque is named after Darwish Pasha, the Ottoman governor of Damascus who ordered its construction in 1574. Darwish Pasha governed Damascus between 1571 and 1574. He died in Istanbul in 1579 but was buried in the Mosque he built in Damascus.

Does darwesh mean anything in Arabic/Turkish/Persian or is just a name?

the term Darweesh was also used for a mystic student (ie a "sufi").

Can you please post more pictures of the mosque details, like doors, windows, court, any old detail. This mosque is almost as old at the USA.
