May Rain

A foggy, rainy and cold day in May, usually the first month of summer in Syria. Temperatures today reached a low 8°C as thunder rocked the city and heavy rain formed huge ponds in bumpy crumbling streets. This is the weirdest weather I have seen in years.

It is really surprising, Lately it was so hot you would think that it is summertime. Thank God I didn't pack all my winter clothes.

Could this be global warming and its contribution to climate change across the world?

Hey Ayman, i posted this question on your last entry but you didn't answer it. Was that Church you took a picture of in Mashroo3 Dummar?

I feel that the rain washed away all the stress. It is amazing that we all agree, Damascus is beautiful. I hope it continues to be.

Haidar, sorry for not replying earlier. You already have the answer :)

I will try to post some more pictures from Dummar soon.

Ah, thanks anyway. So it's on Jazeera 10? My grandparent's house is on Jazeera 7, I haven't visited in 2 years though, but last time I went I heard they were building a church nearby and I actually saw them building it (probably the same one).

Nice photo, Ayman. It's loaded with inference. The rain showers Damascus from the heavens, cleansing the streets and fortifying the soil for foliage.

I noticed the two fellows standing next to a motorcycle on the curb. They look like policemen. Poor day to cycle, I think.

I come across this excellent blog which brings me wonderful memories and images of beautiful Syria, as well as teaches me very interesting history, only to happily realize that the blogger is my friend Ayman (The Great El_Sirio)! How are you pal? This is Hassan (formerly digital_hassoun) from the USA. I have never seen rain in Syria in my entire life, for I always manage to visit Damascus in the summertime. This is an awesome photo to see! Thanks Ayman...and continue your excellent work. I have added this blog to my "Favorites" list and hope to visit it often. Take care...

Thanks 'Tsu. Yes, these are policemen. They usually stand there all day and "hunt" for drivers who run the red light.

Hassan! It's been a long time man! Thanks for your kind comments, my friend. Hope to see you soon in Damascus. Are you coming this summer?

Hello, Ayman! Sorry I wasn't able to meet you in Damascus - May 4th was the first day I was there, I brought the rain with me from Chicago.

Insha'allah, I'll be back in Damascus soon for a blogger meetup!
